The Business of Creativity – Creative Growth Animation

To me Creative Growth Project animation projects a very “nice”, “clean” and somewhat superficial representation of the creative process along with a reward or prize for all this work at the end. The creators are all very “posh” and “well off” working as individuals at their work and then connected via a “commodity” individual who moves up down the creative production line. All good intentions but maybe because it is European based and with its multiple language/cultural mix means the presentation is provided in this manner – it has a “committee” sterile like feel so it don’t not tend to favour or offend anyone.

The Business of Creativity – 99u vs Creative Growth Project

99u is a big bold, polished and subtly Adobe operated site that help make ideas a reality through “our Webby Award-winning website, popular events, and bestselling books”, sounds like a bit of a hard sell but if the related Behance creative showcase and project platform and the automatic synchronisation to the ProSite portfolio manager come website builder (definite tie in here with WordPress) all live up to their promise it is a small price to pay for having a FREE Adobe Creative Cloud Account. The key to 99u is the potential help it can provide with your work flow (e.g. how to do stuff articles) and networking (e.g. very Facebook like setup) which can only help us get noticed doing things right.

The  Creative Growth Project is about planning and raising the awareness of the potential and importance of the creative sector as an emerging business sector and setting policy for the European nations involved.

Whereas anyone can use 99u to help showcase and share their ideas/projects no matter how big or small the Creative Growth Project is all about high level policy and process setting for a specific region.

The Business of Creativity – Definition or Defamation

Business according to Google – “the practice of making one’s living by engaging in commerce.

Creativity according to Google – “the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.”

So if we mix and match these definitions for the Business of Creativity we could come up with a whole variety of dishes

from

“making one’s living by the productive use of imaginative or original artistic ideas”

to

“engaging in the commercial production of artistic work”

Now which of these do you relate with or maybe you have a 100 other definitions mashed up together in potpourri  of original or even cliched chunks of armor and  flowers…?

My leanings are towards a personal survival (of the species especially the me type) and if I am/was really desperate or insecure maybe I could take on a search for creativity insurance and best practices to support me, hell why not risk it all with

“living ideas”

The Business of Creativity – Random Thought or Idea

To me creativity is the moment of a journey when an idea germinates and spreads a thought for a motion of time energy and hapless hopeless wonderment – it is from this confusion of words that a form or shape identifies a hope that will never really identify itself and that is the emotion that is the creative spark…

He closes his eyes and opens his mind to a time when words flowed in the curiosity of how any of this will develop…

Funding Creativity – Interview

INTERVIEWER – Well what do you now think about all this funding stuff?

ME – It’s just a jump to the unknown.

GUESTS – And then a step up to the front.

ME – With your hand on your heart.

GUEST – You bring yourself in tight.

But it’s the public interest alright.

That drives you insane.

Let’s do the Crowdfunding game.

INTERVIEWER – Will you try crowdfunding?

ME – Maybe, maybe not…

Funding Creativity – Pressing Moment

My eyes turn to search for a solution within, without and about such is the inner turmoil that Dr Google looms as my LED beacon of light, so as I type the words “I want money to create art”, my heart skips as my finger lingers over the SEARCH button, thoughts pass through my inner pessimism say YES! But the ever growing tsunami of doubts makes my finger linger – “Just a waste of time, you are not good enough, it is just too hard

Funding Creativity – Beg to Create or Fight the Fight

Funding, funding, alas poor funding but those who want to create, let them try and to those who do not want to try in this world of the eternal funding struggle I say they do not deserve to beg! But I want to create not beg, oh great wall of money so tall, so wide and so impenetrable and only little me to “Fight the Fight” and get some semblance of creative opportunity and exposure…

We are all fighting the same fight

We are all in the same war

We are all in the same revolution

You got to know what you’re fighting for

Yelling and kicking, trying to stay alive

All the time eyes on the prize

But does anybody hear my cries

Tell me something do I qualify

(lyrics Fight the Fight by Living Colour)
